ELIZABETH, NJ—December 13, 2013— On Saturday, December 14, 2013, the City of Elizabeth, in conjunction with Councilwoman Patricia Perkins-Auguste, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Recreation and the Elizabeth Police Department, will host the Fifth Annual Winterfest Toy Giveaway Drive.
“By working with our dedicated partners, we coordinated efforts to provide a fun-filled family experience as well as toy donations to the children of Elizabeth.” said Mayor J. Christian Bollwage. “Giving to those in need is what the holidays are all about and what better place to start than our own community.”
With an expectation of over one thousand Elizabeth youth, this free event will treat their attendees to a special holiday movie. Following the viewing, an array of children’s characters including Santa, Mrs. Clause and a Toy Soldier will interact with the guests and hand out the presents.
“For the past five years, I have been proud and excited to be a part of this wonderful event,” said Councilwoman-At-Large Patricia Perkins-Auguste. “With the cost of toys and gifts continuously increasing, we are grateful to be able to help our neighbors prepare for the holidays and put a smile on children’s faces.”
Residents attending are required to provide a proof of residency and to pre-register with the Health Department’s Office on Youth prior to the event.
Winterfest will be held at AMC Loews Jersey Gardens Theater, next to the Outlet Collection – Jersey Gardens, located at 651 Kapkowski Road from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Sponsorship and partners include: Wakefern, Bank of America; 107.5 WBLS FM, MetLife Solutions Group; GonSosa Constructions; Building Future Leaders; U-Haul, HealthFirst; AMC Theaters; MAS Construction; Big Lots! and Toys R Us.
